Donate to Eco Village: Affordable Earth-Friendly Housing For Homeless and Low-Income families
There is a housing crisis, especially here in the Northeast. Low-income families pay up to 80% of their income for housing and utilities, record numbers of women and children are homeless, shelters are full, and there is a seven to eight year waiting list for EMERGENCY housing if applications are being taken, and in many places they aren’t. Even when low-income families are fortunate enough to find housing it is often woefully inadequate, with electrical outlets shorted out, shameful wasting of our natural resources with cold air blowing in all winter, plumbing that either leaks or doesn’t function at all, broken seals on refrigerators and electric heat and hot water.
Families living in this type of situation (and there are millions) know better than to complain because if the dwelling is condemned, the family will be homeless immediately. Parents who end up homeless often have their children taken from them if there is no emergency shelter available.
This is INSANE and it certainly can be completely avoided by providing low-maintenance, highly energy efficient, safe, amazingly affordable, and Earth-friendly housing. This energy efficient and low-cost housing was created by Nader Khalili. It’s called the eco-dome and incorporates the most elemental materials: earth, water and fire and fundamental architectural forms: domes, vaults and arches to produce housing that is impervious to earthquakes and the fiercest storms.
