The hydrogen peroxide molecule (H202) is basically water (H20) with an extra oxygen atom attached. When that oxygen gets released against germs, it “oxidizes” them.

Your own white blood cells produce hydrogen peroxide because it’s your body’s first and best defense against any infection. It kills bacteria, viruses, yeast, and parasites.  The ability of our cells to produce hydrogen peroxide is essential for life.

The friendly bacteria in the colon and vagina are aerobic. In other words, they flourish in high oxygen environments and thrive in the presence of oxygen rich H202.

On the other hand, most strains of harmful bacteria (and cancer cells) are anaerobic and cannot survive in the presence of oxygen or H202.

Hydrogen Peroxide can be used  as a vegetable wash or soak to kill bacteria and neutralize chemicals. It can also be used to disinfect your dishwasher or refrigerator. Commercially, it is used in aseptic packaging  to prevent spoilage and provide shelf life without refrigeration. It is also great to use in the garden. You can use it on trees and plants as a natural fungicide, insecticide, and also as a weed killer.

35% Hydrogen Peroxide is used world wide in municipal water supplies instead of chlorine to disinfect and stop the growth of unwanted organisms.

You can inexpensively make your house cleaner and safer just by substituting hydrogen peroxide for those caustic chemicals you are currently using.

H2O2 can be diluted and used as a safe mouthwash also, unlike alcohol-containing mouthwash which is associated with oral cancer (see Mouthwash and Cancer).

Your local drugstore’s low quality 3% Hydrogen Peroxide has added chemicals and should not be used, buy “food grade” hydrogen peroxide instead.
